What engines will fit in my car?

I have a 97' VW Jetta GLS 2.0L. Its a good car but i want a better engine and transmisson (manual preferred). If anyone can help me it would be very appricated. Please give a link for the engine/transmission. Thank you.

There is  a lot more involved when you convert an automatic to a manual it would be very expensive, time consuming and take a lot of know how. Your car is 11 years old, you'd be better off staying with what you have or buying another car.

swap to a vr6, but if your car is automatic, youre better off buying a new car.

any VW engine should swap out without too much hassle. Try researching GLI or GTI VR6 motor swaps. I would go with the VR6 from the .:R32 VW. I've seen a stock one take a 350Z with bolt ons.
