Question:

What essential reference books would you recommend? (Dictionary? Factfinder etc)

Years ago I always had a good dictionary, a Roget's Thesaurus, and a general encyclopedia.

I'm thinking of giving my kids 'an essential reference collection' as they approach twenty first birthdays.

Suggestions on what to include would be appreciated - they could be art, humanities, science or perhaps gardening, cooking or 'life' books ! !

  1. Tourism books definitely- as they turn 21, they're probably going to want to go see the world during the next decade.

If you want to give them a hint for grandchildren, you could give them parenting books too.

Maybe some books for other languages?
