    "Diego" is the Spanish word for James (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/...

    "Villa" means town (http://dictionary.reverso.net/spanish-en...

    Perhaps there is a place in Spain called Villadiego (village of Diego), and someone from Villadiego that moved some where else became some sort of long form of "Villadiego" and it was later shortened to just "Villadiego".
