I am a freshman this year and dont' know what events I should do my sophomore year. I am definantly going to do the 100 back (58.21 this year), but I don't know what other event I should do. Here are my times so you can possibly help me find my best fit:

50 free - 23.36

100 free - 54.67

200 free - 2:00.23

500 free - 6:09.19

200 IM - 2:22.27

100 fly - 1:07.96

100 breast - 1:18.85

I've pretty much ruled out the Fly, Breast, and IM. Should I do the 50, 200, or IM? I did the 50 this year, but got 13th at regionals with a 24.28. It wasn't a great time, but still I'd like to do better than 13th.

  1. those are some really fast times!!! they're all good. but yes, i agree that you should rule out fly, breast, and IM because it looks like your freestyle and backstroke is much stronger. in my opinion, in addition to the 100 back, i think you should try the 50 or 100 free. with practice and training, you can really drop those times.

  2. I would say the 50 free. I'm almost to the teens and I can get about 21.00 on my 50 free. So I would definately do 50 free! Hope this helps!

  3. I'm a freshmen swimming this year.  ive been swimming most of my life. ur 500 free looks o.k. im more of a 100 bk and 200 fr. person myself. ur 100 fr. time is nice! and u should deffinatly do the bak next year. do you swim year round? if u did u could probably get that 50 fr. time down. hope this helps!

  4. try to work on your 200 free adn get like a 1:58.00 or 1:57.00 and on your 500 free try to get under 6:00.00

also, i would work on the 100 fly or breast

100 breast try at least ot get a 1.14.00

    and

    100fly try to get a 1.03,00

  5. I know that you want to improve on every event however you need to focus on a few.

I would say that beacuse you have a great 50 and 100 free those should be your focus for the higher competitions. However that said I think that your 200 and 500 free emphasis on the 500 can be improved GREATLY with a little bit of effort. I have a 6:15 but my 50 free is only a 29.34. I am a girl so I know that it is a bit different but with that fast of a 50 you should be able to get below 5:30 with out too much effort. So I would swim the 500 and work on it but they emphasis should be on the 50,100 and your 100 back. If you have a chance to swim the 200 toward the end of the year after you work on your 500 I am sure it will drop time as well but I think your 500 has more time that you can drop on it and training/working with the 500 always helps your 200s and you might be suprised how it helps the 50 and 100.

  6. I would say definitly improvment in the 500. I know it sucks- but you have some great times and that one stands out for sure. Distance seems to be something you should improve. Your an awesome swimmer though! Go with 50 Free, 100 Fly, and 200 Free. HAH. you would be a good competitor in 50 free for me!

  7. dont rule out 500, and go for IM as well -- you need balance, 58 back and 118 br doesnt look that pretty
