  1. DNA studies on Northern Africa show that the Arab invasion left very little difference in the local DNA. They just converted the locals to Islam, they didn't massacre them or displace them.

It has shown that the Berbers and 'Arabs' there are all the same people, mostly of ancient Southern European origin, although there is some ancestry from the Neolithic farming expansion and the Phoenicians. The Carthaginians were Berbers, mostly.

The proto-Berbers arrived between 20,000 and 17,000 years ago from Southern Europe, displacing the previous people of the Aterian culture in North Africa.

The history of North Africa, in brief.

  2. they probably converted.  Even non muslim invaders who came into jerusalem converted, like the mongols

  3. Some of them likely took a boat over to Sicily, since it's only about 75 miles away, and was conected to Tunisia during the last Ice Age...

The water levels between this strait, are only about 100' deep!
