  1. I am not sure, to tell you the truth. I have wondered that myself, as well as wondering why no one has heard or seen anything of Michael Matz, his trainer, for so long. It's been nearly a year now since last I heard anything about him. Presumably, he is still training horses at Fair Hill in Maryland, but it's anyone's guess what else is going on.

  2. Chelokee has some ankle problems. His last race was the Northern Dancer Breeder's Cup Stakes. He finished first, but Michael Matz did some scans on his ankles and found some problems with them. He is supposed to be brought back to be a handicap horse. Hopefully, he will back racing this year!

  3. Chelokee took some time off to recover from some ankle issues.  But he has returned to Michael Matz's barn in Florida and has been working out.  His most recent work was on Sunday March 9... he breezed 4 furlongs in 49 flat over the fast dirt at Palm Meadows Training Center... it was the 20th fastest of 54 works over the distance.  It sounds like he's doing pretty well.  He's been with Matz since December and has had a work out every week since January.  I think he should race pretty soon.  I love Chelokee... I can't wait to see him return.

Starlight, Michael Matz trained Visionaire to a GIII Gotham Stakes win last weekend!
