What ever happened to Chris Nevin?

He was one of several keeper NZ tried in the post-Parore, pre-McCullum era. I really used to enjoy his attacking batting at the top of the order. I admit Brendon McCullum is a far better batsman and keeper than Nevin, whose ODI average of 20 really wasn't good enough, but I was wondering whether Nevin should have had more opportunities in his time? Would he have become a better batsman if he curbed his natural aggresion? Lastly, where does he play now?

  1. Chris Nevin was viewed solely as a limited over specialist by the NZCB. However, his batting form was sketchy, and despite attempts to resurrect his international career, his form never really warranted it.

He played 37 ODI's, so I would say he was given ample opportunity , but failed to take it.

If he had curbed his natural aggression as a batsman, it could have gone one of two ways. He could either, by playing more circumspectly, given less chances, and therefore scored more runs; however, by going against his natural game, he could have regressed even further.

He is still playing for Wellington, his provincial side. In the 2007-08 season, he played 9 matches in their first class State Championship, scoring 431 runs at 33.15, and affecting 16 dismissals.
