What ever happened to Ron Lechien?

Ron "The Dogger" Lechien was a member of Team Yamaha in 1983, Team Honda in 1984 and 1985, and Team Kawasaki back in 1986-1990.

Ron suffered a broken femur at an outdoor national, forcing him to sit out the remainder of that year, and most of 1991. He made a partial comback in 1991 as a member of Team Tuff racing Kawasaki. He raced a KX 500 in the outdoor nationals in 1991. His results floundered.

Ron had a little problem with the law. He spent some time in jail due to drug related offences. He is out of jail now, and is part owner of Maxima Racing Oils. His father, d**k Lechien founded Maxima.

Ron still rides around every now and then and can be seen at the local and national vintage races.

He has also been known to test bikes for Transworld Motocross magazine and Racer X magazine.

I'm pretty sure he broke his femur before the 1990 season and retired. He would have been #5 that year.
