  1. You said it yourself, "It is Science Fiction". Nothing happened to it, it never existed.

  2. most food eaten by "first world" people is in a type of pill form.

it is usually "processed" (which is usually claimed to add value)

for example canned, frozen or otherwise "packaged".

peas are not in the pod, corn is not on the cob, beef is not on the cow (and is often not even on the bone, often ground up, and usually packaged), wheat usually has the "good part removed (so it looks "clean", and if they add it back it is called "enriched(???)") and not only ground up but precooked (breads and breakfast cereal)

usually "chemicals" are added to preserve "freshness???"

"bad, cheap" food is mixed to dilute good food

the strange part is that these processes add value mainly to the processor, transporter and retailer by allowing old food to stay around and "on the shelf" longer

admittedly a small proportion of this value is added to the consumers' wallets and "convenience" clocks BUT not usually to their bodies (which is the prime purpose of "food") or it adds too much bad "value" to their bodies (obesity)

Food does come in a BIG PILL FORM.

  3. Food in pill form would never be a reality.

This is because we still have not understood role of different components of food in determining our health.

In Sanskrit language there is an old traditional saying 'anna he poorna brahma' means the food [concept/knowledge] is evergrowing [as we go deeper into it].

  4. This question hit me as strange.  Everyone talks about organic, going back to nature types of food.  You bring up the idea of food in a pill form  What a waste that would be for our sense of taste. Yuck!

  5. Well... we do have different vitamins and sugars, amino acids and fiber, fish oil and cranberry extract... maybe we're going in the direction of food in pill form....but the fact is, people like to eat .... and it has been proven that people feel less hungry when they chew more.

Besides, the cost to process food is more expensive and more wasteful than delivering whole foods to hungry people.

    Hope this helps...
