Nowadays, it seems like just the opposite. Where did the innocence go? It seems like I'm the only one at my school or anywhere who's never even been on a date and won't go on one unless it's someone very very special.

  1. Nowadays the equivalent is "sweet 16 and never sucked c**k"

Anyway, how would you know if a person's "really special" unless you go on at least one date with them? It takes time to find out if you really like someone.

Add on: I don't see how you can know a person well enough to conclude that they're "really really special" unless you've dated them. A lot of people are fantastic friends, but might be terrible boyfriends/girlfriends.

  2. s*x and sexuality is becoming less taboo and more cool.  Mostly this is due to the entertainment industry.  Children are exposed to modern ideas about sexuality.  This is good, but has its downsides.  The main one being that, just like with cigarettes or alcohol, people tend to do it out of peer pressure rather than being self-motivated.  Also, we let them know about this stuff from movies and songs, but we don't have a decent s*x education system in school.  Most are abstinence only programs, or nonexistent.  It would be wrong to make up a bunch of boloney about waiting for "The One" and that s*x before marriage is immoral.  These are things someone has to decide for themselves.   But if we are going to be open about s*x, we need to teach about its consequences and risk management.

There are always a handful of the "waiting til marriage (or for someone special)" types.  The problem is they're usually dishonest about their motivations.  Either they're fooled into waiting by religion which teaches that anything less would be immoral.  Or they are fat or ugly and, as a result, lacking in self-confidence which keeps them from getting any, so they just say they're waiting.  It's hard to find people who honestly want to save s*x for something they percieve as being special with someone they truly love (and furthermore, people, usually girls, fall in love way too easily anyway) because it's hard to honestly believe that there is anything special or meaningful about s*x anyway.   It's simply a recreational activity.  It would be like saying "I want to wait to find someone special to play ping pong with."  I like ping pong, you like ping pong, let's ping pong!  That's all there is too it.
