What ever happened to the Minah bird that was so popular decades ago?

A minah bird looks like a crow but it has a bright orange beak. It can talk really really well. But they seem to not be around anymore. Have they become illegal or extinct?

My cousin had one he used to scream "Lily" all the time!

They are considered invasive birds but I didn't find anything that prevented them from being in the US.  Here is an article on purchasing them:

HAHAHA i'm sure they arent illegal.

maybe endangered? i dont think they're can be extinct...
