  1. your birth certificate, your parent's certificate, will be checked for family background, there must have been a place to check if you had committed a crime on there,

the UK and the US have high technical computer communications together,

i hope you are not in a hurry? right now the passport agency are backlogged (high travel season)

other than that? i no of nothing more that the agency would check .

if you had something to hide? they more than likely would know by checking your records.it would have to be something such as parole or something to that nature,

  2. Check that you filled in the paperwork correctly and this is very important to passports.. check that the signature is within the box. That's because the signature goes on the passport so if you sign outside it the passport application can be invalid. They also do background checks, see if there's anything outstanding (child support fees, court orders preventing you from leaving the country etc), if it's a new application (you haven't had a passport before) they check if all the documentation is accurate and valid (no forgery), if it's a renewel they check the passport itself and make sure it's okay.

I think it takes so long because they sometimes have to check other departments etc.

  3. They probably do every kind of back ground check they can. Good thing u dont have anything to hide because I am sure they would find it. Have a safe trip

  4. Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't do a background check.
