Question:

What exactly IS puzzle glue?

There is this material for gluing puzzles together to make them into a picture, a type of puzzle glue. It comes in small, expensive containers. I assemble lots of puzzles, so I'd like to buy the glue in bulk and put it into my old containers, myself.

Do you know what that puzzle glue is? Where can I buy that material in bulk?

  1. yes i do, i have used it and it sticks VERY well

although it smells not so good

and idk where they sell it in bulk, maybe craft stores (e.g Michaels)

    hope i helped!

(the one i used is called Mod Podge)

  2. I believe it's just ordinary permanent "white glue" like Elmers GlueAll or like "PVA" glue for bookbinding or Sobo from the art or craft store.

It *may* be a particularly thick type of white glue though (like tacky white glue) or a particularly strong white glue (check the white glues to see which say they're especially "strong"), but any permanent white glue will be strong enough when used with porous surfaces like cardboard/paper/fabric/etc --weight or clamp while drying for even better bonding.  ("Decoupage mediums" like ModPodge and Royal Coat, which is better I hear, are basically just thinned down permanent white glues).  Be sure you don't get washable "school" white glues though... Elmers makes one of those too, but they're not permanent.

All white glues dry clear and glossy btw... if some of it shows and you don't want the gloss, you can "sand" it lightly with 0000 steel wool to remove the shine, then buff a bit with a cloth if necessary.

(woodworker's glue --wood glue-- is basically the same stuff, but it dries yellow and opaque... strong though)
