  1. lemon extract or any other is a concentrated part of that fruit or spice so you use it very sparingly because its potent.

  2. they are extracts from certain foods used to add, enhance or intensify a specific flavour..

  3. extract are the liquid flavoring you can get in any fruits, vegetables and nuts.they can enchance  more the flavor of the call of the engredients on your food.

  4. they are actually a mixture of vodka with the rind, bean, flesh or nut that is allowed to soak for at least a week to blend together.  It is a way of getting the taste of the item without actually adding the whole fruit, nut, juice into whatever it is that you are making.

You can make coconut extract by putting equal parts fresh shredded coconut and vodka together, allow to infuse for a week, strain, and it's ready to use! :)

    Hope that helped!

  5. they are seasoning

  6. They add flavoring.

It mixes in with the butter or oil which emulsifies it through the whole recipe (fat carries flavor).

  7. enhance flavor

  8. Add flavoring?  Or are you talking about the possible chemical reaction to/with the other ingredients?  If so, I have no clue.

  9. extracts are the essential oils that come from fruits/nuts and are mixed with about 79% alcohol and water solution.  These are used to help add flavoring in deserts and certain recipes.

Consider it like a concentrated form of a lemon, Almond, vanilla,etc.... in a bottle.

Little goes a long way and yes if you drink enough of it you could get intoxicated from the alcohol content...  LOL
