What exactly are my rights when getting pulled over in Canada?

I got pulled over for no apparent reason yesterday I waited the proper time at the stop sign like I always do.

The person behind me in between myself, and the cop truck ran the stop sign but they pulled me over, asking me if the car was mine even after I gave my insurance, and license.

My N has gotten stolen just about everytime I go somewhere in this town. They gave me a ticket for not displaying my N can I dispute that as well?

  1. We have the right to pull over anybody we feel necessary for a traffic stop/check. You never mentioned what Prov. you're in but being on a graduated license system means you MUST display your N  (New Driver ) tag any time you are in control of the motor vehichle you are driving.

  2. They can pull you over.  If they were wrong to, the Judge can throw the charges out, but don't count on it - it's 2 cops word against yours.

And if you were required to display your "N", whatever that is, then the ticket will stand.
