I love America, and I honestly believe this country is one of the best if not the best. But I also know we have our issues, like all countries do. I don't agree with the war, but I support the young men and women who go over there, fight and even die. A lot of them are only a couple years older than me.

There seems to be this kind of attitude that if you don't think America's perfect and if you don't support Bush and if you're a Democrat you can't love America. What about the soldiers in who are fighting but don't agree with Bush's policies, and don't agree with the war and who are Democrats, are they un-patriotic too?

So my question is mostly directed to those who believe that Democrats don't love America. What exactly do you have to do to be considered patriotic.

  1. Anyone who supports a man who set in a racist church for 20 years and listened to their pastor scream "god d**n" America isn't patriotic.

Yes, I'm talking about Obama "The Great One".

    edit:

Palin has more executive experience than both Obama and Biden. She has ran a government. They haven't.

  2. You have to love your country and be prepared to fight for it. It seems to me that all four candidates fit this description.

  3. Respect persons differences, actively respect persons differences, and continue to work to maintain those rights for everyone.

    USA is a melting pot.

  4. Vote against liberalism-socialism.

Socialism attempts to destroy the very ideals that built America and gave us our freedoms.

  5. I think the real question is who do you believe?

Everyone's opinion is just that, a opinion, not everyone's going to agree

I say, if you believe - you are

  6. If you love America keep a open mind and ask allot of questions???

  7. No one doubts that you love your country. We just question your logic when you say Obama is the savior. Obama is inexperienced, yes so is Palin but she isn't running for president. Obama has said nothing, nothing at all, he talks about change and repairs but doesn't say how? I guess we just get frusturated when you complain and then plan to vote for someone with no plan to fix things.

If you love America, you wouldn't vote for someone who is trying to turn us into a socialist country in the model of Europe.

  8. I make my personal decisions based on more than an immediate question.

For Iraq, that meant more than simply whether to over throw Saddam or not.

I had to ask what would be the repercussions for the region in the short and long term.

The reason I make me decisions this way is because I have studied history.

The slavery and the Civil War were terrible but Reconstruction, the long term effects of slavery and Jim Crow may have had a greater effect than slavery and the Civil War.

The Vietnam War was awful but our pulling out made things even worse in SE Asia and caused a genocide.  The political effects of Vietnam still linger in the US.

WWII was unbelievable but it created sociological changes in the US as well as leading to the rise of the USSR, changing the second half the the entire 20th century.

The Iraq war may prove to be nothing more than a skirmish in the war on terror.  It might be the first shot in an upheaval in the Middle East that leads to democracy for its people.  The course of history in several other countries has been changed forever, most for the better, such as in Jordan which has new and modern leadership.

There are signs that we have temporarily broken the back of al Qaeda but the Moors (Islam) occupied Spain for 800 years.

This has been going on for more than 1500 years.

We can't even begin to know in 6 years what the outcome of this will be.

Trying my best to understand this prevents me from saying Stop It Now.

Calvin Coolidge said that Patriotism is looking out for yourself by looking out for your country first.

I think that not rushing to judgment allows me to do that.

I have to trust those who have skills and knowledge I don't have.

  9. Apparently to some unless you march lockstep in unison with the Republican Party, and wear a flag pin made in china your some kind of heathen.

  10. America the greatest country on Earth!

    God Bless America!

If either of these statements bothered you then you are not patriotic and probably a liberal democrat.

    It bothered you didn`t it.

  11. Wearing a flap lapel pin does not make you a patriot.

You have to walk the talk.

  12. Support your country.

Talk the talk and walk the walk.

And not just during a political campaign.

Yes, your friends and associations DO count.
