  2. He serves documents for the court, ie. subpoenas, summons, notices of hearing, etc.  Some papers can't be mailed, they must be personally served by an Officer of the Court, that can be a Deputy Sheriff, a Police Officer, a Trooper, or a person certified by the Court to serve court documents.
