What exactly does an Obstetric do?

And what the difference between that and a Gynecologist? What kind of schooling do you need to become a Obstetric?

  1. an obstetrician is a doctor who specialises in pregnancy and childbirth

    a gynaecologist is a doctor who specialises in the diseases of women and girls, especially the reproductive system

    in addition, obstetricains tend to care for women with complicated pregnancies, or who have existing medical problems.

    Midwives care for women who are problem free

An obstetrician?  An obstetrician is a doctor that specializes in the health of PREGNANT women and the delivery of babies.  A gynocologist is a doctor that specializes in the health of ALL women (pregnant or not).  You have to go to medical school for both, and then spend several extra years training in your specialty.
