Because I am in the process of deciding on majors. I am a creative person but I know advertising would be harder to get into because I would have to work at advert. agencies. I would probably have to move to a big city like New York. However, every company has a marketing department. I am discouraged because when I look at the curriculum for marketing there is a lot of math and accounting involved and I don't like working with numbers, math has always been my weekest point. So is there a lot of math involved in marketing? Should I just try advertising?

  1. Depending on what type of marketing your interested in, careers vary dramatically. I just graduated with a B.S. in Business Admin with a concentration in Marketing. Initially I  was nervous for the same reasons, hated math! Fortunately, within the marketing curriculum and upper division business courses, the highest level of math required is statistics which isn't nearly as painful as rumors may have it. Within any other business degree, no matter the concentration, two basic accounting courses are required, the plus side being only two! Marketing has proven to be a wonderful career thus far enabling me to use my creativity as an outlet. Theirs a great website called marketingpower.com that has great information about different marketing careers, salaries, companies etc. I suggest taking a look. Good luck!
