  1. you are right. it's the short way of saying filipino/a

  2. you already have answered your question. yes you are correct!

  3. I know a Filipino who doesn't wish to be called Pinoy because he thinks it's a cheap name and he feels downgraded. Pinoy is a slang/colloquial  term for Filipino. Filipino is too formal word.

  4. yes, pinoy is a nickname for filipino guys. pinay is for filipino girls.

  5. You're right. "Pinoy" and "Pinay" are another yet informal terms for "Filipino" and "Filipina". Shorter too. Just like "Aussie" to "Australlian". It's just as simple as that.

  6. Okay, most everybody in the world call Australians as Aussies.

    Filipinos/Filipinas are Filipinos or Filipinas.

The local Filipinos call themselves Pinoys or Pinays as the case may be. It can refer to the Filipino person or to something that is uniquely "Filipino", as in Pinoy music or as in your case, a Pinoy breakfast.

To me, a Filipino breakfast may mean something that a foreigner would "assume" to be a Filipino breakfast. Which for all intents & purposes is indeed a Filipino breakfast. But it may not be one that an ordinary Filipino would partake of for his breaking of the night fast.

But some (weird) place having a Pinoy breakfast separate from a Filipino breakfast would only mean that that breakfast  is something that is uniquely Pinoy & most probably any foreigner will not dare to think of as Filipino or not even think of eating early in the morning or even eat at all.

  7. actually "pinoy/pinay" is a Filipino phrase with a variety of meanings dependent on context.

    So..........

    Does it make any sense?

  8. Yes I think Pinoy is a shortcut term used in place of "Filipino" and Pinay is the shorter term for "Filipina". They are both universally accepted terms in the Philippines or "PINAS".

  9. yes its a shortcut and also pinoy/pinay is tagalog :D
