A lot of things are registered in your subconcious, but you don't realize it.

It's a term used to describe that part of the brain where instinct and motivation lies.  Do you scratch when you itch?  Do you sit and ponder what to do or just do it?  That is the difference between a conscious thought process and an instinctive one.

You duck when an object comes towards you, the opposite s*x appeals to you, you don't walk into a wall.  These are not things you were taught.  The subconscious controls your reactions.
