What exactly happens after the 10th attempt of entering a password on a blackberry curve?

8330 specifically. I heard something about the entire memory getting erased but why would they do that. What if you had some really important stuff on there! or say my sister was playing with my phone and tried entering the password 10 times then my entire memory gets erased and i don't have a phone??? that can't be right

  1. Yes, that is exactly what happens. The BlackBerry devices are security-conscience devices. The main reason for the wiping of the device after 10 incorrect password tries is for security. What if you had sensitive information on the phone and it got stolen?

    So yes, after 10 unsuccessful tries the phone will wipe itself. You can always use the Desktop Manager program that comes with the BlackBerry to create a backup of your phone's information. That way if it does get wiped you can restore your data after the wipe.
