What exactly happens at the Turning Blue Ceremony?

Im going to my boyfriends graduation from basic in 2 weeks at Fort Benning and they are also having a Turning Blue Ceremony.. what exactly happens at this ceremony? And how should I dress for both? He told me to just wear my normal clothes.. jeans and a tshirt cuz thats how he likes me best.. but I think everybody is going to be dressed up.. i dont want to be underdressed.

  1. i think it is also called a passing out parade because people pass out. drees with something with a collar and long pants that aren't ripped etc. don't full dress up but just look smart.


  2. When I went to my husband's I wore a long jean skirt and black and white striped collar shirt. With some  black high heel boots. Some people really dressed up and others looked like they just rolled out of bed! I would wear something comfortable, stylish and cool but not "trashy". It is going to be hot and you will be outside, or at least we were. This was five years ago. At the turning blue ceremony he should be getting his blue cord (Infantry). If you want you can actually put the cord on him!! I did for my hubby. It's a regular ceremony, they talk and chant. But then they allow people from the audience to approach their family member and put the cord on. Then you take your seat and finish it up. Congrats and welcome to the military!
