  2. Both, it can run in the family.

It's just a new way of saying manic depression.

  3. Bi - as in 2

Polar - as in opposite ends

Bi polar sufferer's have periods of Mania or high,

and at the other end when they crash (come down from the high) they become depressed.

Some people have more extreme cases than others.

It is a genetic disease, but I believe its usullay triggered by an event (usually stress) that happens in your life.

  5. bipolar disorder means you can go for weeks feeling very excitable and irritable and hyper, and then suddenly fall into an intense depression for a few weeks.  It's usually caused by a chemical imbalance, which is something you are born with, however, the symptoms of the chemical imbalance wouldn't necessarily be obvious in a young child, so they may not show up until you are grown, giving the appearance of recent development.  If you're worried you might have bipolar disorder, you should see a doctor and ask for them to recommend a psychiatrist to help you be certain.  If you do have it, there are medicines you can take to calm the symptoms.

  6. At first your on a high
