What exactly is Laminated Pine?

Question

I want to build a entertainment center. I was looking at Oak but the home depot only has oak boards which are not wide enough so I found some Laminated Pine that was now when i cut it down will the cut part look the same as the rest (becuase its smooth and a bit shiny) if not can i use a coating of something to make it loak like that?

Is it a laminated beam structure or laminated 4x8 sheet with a manmade lamination(formica like) fii9sh on pine? Here is some inf o lamination
