Pokemon is a role playing game for the Game boy and Nintendo DS.

The aim of the game is to travel the world and capture creatures called Pokemon. Each Pokemon has certian moves or abilitys which you can use to battle with other Pokemon.

One of the big hooks to it, is the way that you may want to keep going back to it to make your Pokemon stronger and stronger. Also you can battle with your friends over wi-fi on the DS version and trade your Pokemon with other people.

about 500 collectable pets that can fight eachother. Basically, anyways. The best part of the franchise is the video games which are RPGs where you travel around the world collecting pokemon and battling other trainers(collector/fighters).

Theres a lot of strategy involved because theres 15(ish) different types (fire, water, grass, etc) that have a Rock-Paper-Scissor effect against eachother. You can only carry six at a time and each can only know 4 special moves at a time (fire balls, bubbles, vine whips, etc). As you battle with them they get stronger and certain ones change in to others when they get to a certain level.
