My friend went to UT in TN and took that class. I asked her what it was like and she said that if I have taken Anatomy & Physiology it will be easier for me. But I thought Sociology is the study of human behaviour and ethnicity etc....Thanks

  2. Sociology has absolutely nothing to do with Anatomy and Physiology. Sociology deals with societies, cultures, and problems within cultures. Issues like violence, racial issues, domestic issues. It's about society in general. Anatomy and Physiology deal with the human body and it's a pure science. Sociology is in the social sciences. Two very different things.

  3. The majority of universities out there will not require A&P.  For example, my BA in Sociology required only 8 hours of science...the only requirement was that they be in the same area (Biology, Chemistry, etc.).

Sociology is the study of groups and human behavior; the scientific or systematic study of society, including patterns of social relations, social stratification, social interaction, culture, etc.

I am also sending you a link to the UTA website that will give you a brief overview of sociology courses a the university level.  Good luck...and don't let your friend discourage you if you are truly interested in sociology.  It is a very rewarding field of study!
