  1. PRN means as needed.  Usually just below part time.  Not guaranteed any hours, they just use you when they need you.  No call or benefits.

  2. practicle registered nurse. i think you would have a set schedule. you do in my town atleast.

  3. Sometimes it is called per diem. It is kind of like part time. You tell them when you can work.  Usually they require you to work a minimum of 3 shifts per month.  A lot of times you can work as much as you want.  You will not get benefits.  If a hospital is desperate, they will pay big bucks for PRN.   In my state some hospitals pay less, which is stupid.  I think they do it trying to get nurses to sign on full time.

Sometimes it depends on how far in advance they do their schedule.  A lot of places do monthly schedules.  Actually, if you tell them the days that you can work, you set your own schedule.  You probably won't have to take call.  They may call you to see if you want an extra shift if they have call-ins.  It is usually your option.

  4. PRN= as needed. Some places will schedule you to work say one weekend a month to keep your status. Others call only when you are needed,at times with no notice. You have the option to work or not. Usually this position has no benefits as your pay is slightly more.

  5. I don't know where you live, but where I live they are called Agency Nurses.  If you chose to be one, usually they will call you at least 2hrs before the shift unless you have one those inconsiderate nurses who calls in 30 min before the shift starts,  Oh, do I hate that.  You get paid a lot more for being this type of on-call nurse and the benefits would come from the agency you work for.  Be prepared though, you could get called 30 min before a shift is due to start, only you have the option to do it or not. It's up to you.
