I got a callback for my school's production for Grease, but I don't really know what a callback is, and if it's good or bad, like my question implies. I tried out for Sandy, so does my callback have anything to do with that?? Thanks a lot!

  1. A callback is generally positive. It means that the director or whoever is casting the production wants to see more of what you can do. They might be looking to see if you are right for Sandy or maybe one of the other parts.

Good luck and break a leg.

  2. yes!! a call back is good! it means you were good enough to get called back for a lead/near lead part! i got a call back to be one of the main people in my play... and i didnt notice... so i missed out :[ hope i helped:]

  3. callbacks often are good... they want to have you re audition maybe with some different material.... maybe it's for sandy or another role. i was in a show once where they called the entire ensamble back... i'm sure it's a good thing... but try to freshen up on your theatrical vocabulary if you are thinking of pursuing theater

  4. it means that want you to show them what you can do again.  they are trying to chose between you and someone else.

  5. A callback means they didnt really find what theyre looking for so they need to take another look at the people they liked. Hope i helped :)

  6. A callback is when a few people are selected to that auditioned in the beginning and they couldn't make up there mind. They usually run more scenes.  In this case it's somewhat of a good thing because you could still get the part.

  7. A callback is when the director(s) call you back to audition again and compare you to other people who they think would be good for a certain role.  Also, they want to see how different combinations of people work together on stage.  They may want to hear you audition with some Sandy material (songs/scenes), or material for another character (sometimes people get called back for multiple roles!).  If they haven't told you who they called you back for already, then you'll just find out when you get there.

Callbacks are generally good because it means that you are being considered for a role, however it doesn't necessarily mean that you are guaranteed to be in the show.  For my school's spring musical last year, there were two or three freshman who got callbacks that didn't even make it into the ensemble.  So just be sure to give it your all at your second audition so that way if you don't get the part you were called back for, you'd still have a good chance of being in the show.
