What exactly is a freeview?

i search for a new tv online, and everytime, i see something called 'freeview'. what is it?

It  means that it comes with the freeview box inbuilt in to the television so you do not need a box as in 2010 Britain is changing from ariel tv to digital tv so with the digital you get around 30-60 channels depending all on where you live and which signal is in your area. It also means that in 2010 you will not have to change yur tv for another, saving you money as when the change over happens i can see the price going  through the roof.
