  1. It's a very tacky, rude way of begging for money.  This usually happens when the bridal couple decide that because they've been shacking up for so long and "have everything they need" they are somehow entitled to collect cash for something they should pay for themselves.

Rather than being grateful that they have so much, they greedily expect to milk their guests for money.

  2. Technically: This is where the bride and groom set up an account for their guests to fund the bride and groom's honeymoon.

Literally:  It is begging for money because the bride and groom can't afford to live within their means.

  3. It is set up so that instead of purchasing a gift or giving cash people can give money towards the honeymoon. It's usually an account online, but some people just put "Cash for Honeymoon" on their knot.com or other registry.

As you can tell by the other answers, it's a very controversial practice. Most people (myself included) think of it as asking for presents. I personally feel that it's never a good idea to only ask for one thing for a present, it makes you seem present greedy. A much better option is to have a very limited registry and that will encourage people to give you cash, which you can then use on your honeymoon.

  4. another way to ask for money so the couple can go on a honeymoon they could not otherwise afford.

  5. A honeymoon registry is when couples will register for a honeymoon, and people add money to the honeymoon costs (usually online) rather than purchasing a gift for the couple.

Usually couples that do this already have everything they want, and would prefer a more expensive "dream" honeymoon than a new gravy boat.

A lot of people are against honeymoon registries, but I say if that's what the couple wants, I'm willing to put in a $100 for it. I wouldn't do it personally, but I'm sure it makes a lot if couples happy.

  6. It's typically an account set up at a travel agency so people can donate to your honeymoon travel expenses.

Beware - while it's somewhat popular, this still offends a lot of people. If you don't think your friends/wedding guests would be offended, then it's fine.

    Hope this is helpful!
