i'm pretty sure it's british. i grew up on narnia and harry potter, finally figured i'd solve the mystery. haha.

  1. Crudely, someone with a stick up his or her butt!  

    Really, someone with a very regimented sense of propriety who just can't imagine being or accepting anyone or anything outside of that narrow range of inclusion.


  2. The previous two answers are correct, a prig is self righteous, and overly concerned with morals (other peoples).

    You are absolutely correct in both of your guesses. The term is only ever used in a derogatory way, never descriptive. (Unless someone was described as "a bit of a prig" as part of a profile).
