I'm thinking about buying another computer and I found a really good one but I've never heard of Debranded before, it says HP Debranded, can anyone tell me exactly what the differences are between a regular HP and the Debranded version?

  1. De-branded does not necessarily mean that the computer has been changed at all or has parts that are any different then when the original manufacturer built it.

Dell de-branded computers are routinely sold on Ebay and even through reputable dealers such as tigerdirect.com.  All "they" do to them is literally take the brand name tags off.  The silver dell logo on the front face plate and side panel is replaced with a non-descript logo, but you can immediately recognize it as a Dell machine of course.  The same happens with HP, Sony, and other make computers.

The down-side to "de-branded" computers is that 90% of them are either used non-refurbished units (i.e., no warranty), or heavily used machines purchased in bulk from large companies.   There is a good chance your machine will work fine, but there is just a good a chance that it will have some sort of problem.  Since they do not include warranty, you will be responsible for any issues it has.

  2. Debranded means that they installed other components in the computer after they bought it. When you buy a pree built computer it has all the parts you need already but after the years go buy you dont want to just buy a hole new computer to upgrade that is a wast of money so you just upgrade the one you bought after you upgrade it enough it is debranded because the computer you have now isnt like the one you bought originally.
