  1. Sorry Milkman, but the only contingency I can think of has been explained by Girl Racer in the in the first answer.

What you are talking about is just sponsorship bonus.

  2. A contingency plan is a plan devised for specific situations when things 'could' go wrong.- Being fully prepared for anything that 'could' or couldn't happen -

Contingency plans include specific strategies and actions to deal with specific variances to assumptions, resulting in  particular problems or emergency.

Contingencies are required to aid recovery from serious incidents - within the minimum time, with as little or no disruption - To accompany contingency plans there is  contingency theory/clause/fees and contingency management.

In simple terms - 'contingency' is a 'back up plan' - a 'worst-case scenario' plan or - just 'plan B' -

  3. LOL The above answer couldn't be more wrong.

What Ponydriver is referring to is contingency "money" that bike dealerships offer for supporting/advertising their brand of bike.

Contingency is based on your results. And you are paid contingency usually though the dealership. You are not paid cash but rather have credit at the dealership for parts and accessories. (if your racing your going to need parts, so its as good as cash)

For instance, let's say your racing in the B class at a local Enduro event and you place second in your class, they will give you $100 in credit toward future parts at the dealership. First place might be $$200 and so on.

Year end championships result in much higher payout.
