I heard that tramp was a male dog. Just as bit@h is the female dog. But now I hear people calling women tramp also.

Tramps are really just travelling vagrant beggars. 'Tramping' is walking around aimlessly or for pleasure.

Somehow this word was taken and used to describe slatternly women, I don't know why.
