What exactly is bluetooth and what's the difference between a blackberry and just any other cell phone?

A Bluetooth chip is designed to replace cables by taking the information normally carried by the cable, and transmitting it at a special frequency to a receiver Bluetooth chip, which will then give the information received to the computer, phone whatever.

A  BlackBerry is a handheld device made by RIM (Research In Motion) that is marketed primarily for its wireless e-mail handling capability. It has a dedicated server that pushes email to the phone. Most cell phones have to get the email on command..expecially in the past. Blackberry was a hit because it could push through firewalls. Big stuff for the corperate elite.
