  1. there are layers in the earth and there is this one layer called the ozone layer and it traps heat.  there is so much pollution that it can not trap very much heat so all of it is going to earth making it hotter and hotter.  is that simple enough to understand

    hope i helped

  2. earth's crust is getting thinner.

  3. Weather over 30 years or more.  Many people's misplaced guilt leads them to the ludicrous conclusion that human beings have control over it.

  4. It's  a hoax

  5. The average temperature for the whole Earth is set by a balance between how much of the sun's energy comes in (incoming minus reflected) and how much heat energy goes out.

The Earth would be much colder if it weren't for a few gases in the atmosphere, namely water vapor, carbon dioxide and methane, that absorb some of the heat energy that's going out and send it back toward Earth.  That's the Greenhouse Effect, and it's what makes Earth warm enough to live on.

We are adding some of these greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, which is increasing the amount of heat energy going back towards Earth and it will heat up the planet eventually (it has to, there's no way around it). There is really no debate about any of these things I've said.  What some people question is whether there is enough added heat energy that is being sent back to Earth by these gases to change the temperature in a bad way.

Most scientists say that the added greenhouse gases will warm up the Earth enough to cause major problems.  Some people don't think so, but they are not usually scientists.

  6. Global warming is basically this. The sun rays pass through green house gases, or carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone. Then when the light is absorbed and bounced back into space, most of it does not pass through the thermal blanket. So its simply this. The heat comes in, but less goes out. So eventually, it warms the climate.

I am not an expert either, but I try!

    Good luck

  7. Global warming is indeed real and has been documented with ice cores dating back tens of thousands of years.

What is NOT real is the quackery that humans caused (or can even affect) global warming.

The scare tactics being perpetrated upon us are only a money/power grab scheme by bottom-feeder politicians accompanied by their so-easily-led sheeple who take their prattle, even their movies, as hard science

    .

To find that my statement above is true, follow the money. See just who it is who will profit from the carbon offset, carbon tax, & etc.

Here is truth about global warming:

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.

The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.

This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.

Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is

becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).

As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).

When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.

As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

    Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':

    Humans did not cause it.

    Humans cannot stop it.

  8. A long time ago, the Earth was really warm, then it was cold, then it was warm, then it was cold, then it was warm, then it was cold, now it's warm again.  The change from cold to warm is global warming.  The Sun causes it.

  9. Some gases in the air, called greenhouse gases, absorb the heat that the earth radiates away, and the air gets warmer when that happens. That's called the "greenhouse effect" and it keeps the earth warm enough to live on.

The more greenhouse gas in the air, the greater the greenhouse effect. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, and it is increasing rapidly in the air because we burn fossil fuels. This causes the air, and the whole planet, to get warmer.

  10. Some gases ("greenhouse gases") let sunlight in, which warms the Earth, and then block that heat from leaving. That's the "greenhouse effect", and it's a natural thing, mostly caused by water vapor.  It's like putting a blanket on the Earth.

Man is making excessive amounts of greenhouse gases, mostly by burning fossil fuels. That causes the delicate natural balance to go out of whack and the Earth warms. That's global warming.

It won't be a Hollywood movie style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.

  11. see the gasses like carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide and ozone are present in the atmosphere.these gasses act like a glass not allowing the heat recieved from the sum by the earth to b reflected back into space..........they r harmful as they filter dangerous radiations from the sun.due to this the temperature of the earth increases and these gasses act like an insulating blanket keeping the earth warm..when these gasses r present in the right proportion they r beneficial....however a disturbance or increase in any of these gasses due to pollution  and other factors cause warming of the atmosphere called as global warming.

  12. I won't go into what might or might not be causing it, but global warming is when the average temperature of the earth is in an overall warming trend.   It might be cooler today than yesterday, or even cooler this year than last year, but put on a graph you would see a somewhat steady rise up in temperatures.

  14. AGW is a political issue not a scientific one and is intended to keep the current mass-market energy suppliers on the top of the heap and prevent independent competitors from usurping their control of energy production and distribution. So far the only alternative fuel that has come to market is corn based ethanol and it is driving the cost of any food made with grain up as fast as oil. There are very few options out there right now for consumers to get away from the control of the big boys.
