  1. I used to get stuck in endless cycles of self-analysis to the point where I would lose sleep over it. Wondering why I am the way I am and what helped develop my personality. This is what I consider soul searching. Trying to dig underneath all the layers of who you are to find some consistent true essence that defines you. Rather than words, I find that images, snippets of good music, and emotions are at my core rather than concretely definate traits.

  2. When someone is hit with a very hard decision, something like unplugging a loved one's respirator or putting a pet to sleep; the kind of deep thinking they have to do to make that decision is called "Soul Searching".  This can also be true for anyone who is in any situation that they are unhappy with, they do some "soul searching" to discover the best way out.

I guess because they are searching so deeply for the right answer that they are looking into their soul.

  3. harvesting and or hunting for souls. You can get them on a discount at eBay. And their only 108 calories per serving, now that's a deal if i ever saw one!

  4. Finding yourself.  I can best explain it in an analogy:

A sixteen year old girl wants to get married, get out from under her parents, and live her own life.  She marries the first guy that comes along, quits school, gets pregnant, and ruins her life.  At 22, she finally realizes what she wants.  She leaves the guy, takes the kid, goes back and gets her diploma, and starts college.  At 22, she started soul-searching.

  5. You are a soul.  Soul searching is searching for yourself.  If you are where you're at, you've found yourself.
