  1. It started after WW II and gave veterans a monthly payment while they attended college.  I believe it may have also included something to pay tuition and books.

    It may be totally different now.


  2. when you join the service you can elect to get it, or opt out.  If you want it, you pay $100 a month your first year in service.  Then when you get out, and you are in school you get a monthly check.  The amount depends on if you are full time or part time, full time gets paid more.  You get that check every month for 3 years as long as you are a student, and you do have to prove that you are, you cant just pretend.  My monthly rate is about $1300 a month.
