  1. It is so fantastic.  Every travel agent you speak to tells you to go.  It has won awards and I really enjoyed it.  5 star dining under 5 million stars!

  2. It is the best thing you can do if you go to the Red Centre.  You need to book in advance so make sure you get in early.

It is an amazing experience to eat gourmet food in the desert.  You learn about different things like the stars and Aboriginal mythology.

I have a feeling they don't let kids go, so you may need to find a babysitter at the hotel!

    Info from the website..................

This is an offering we're especially proud of. Entered into the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame, Sounds of Silence is a truly unique Outback experience - the best of the Red Centre distilled into four magic hours. Here is an unforgettable evening, eating beautifully prepared food under the Outback sky. It's our great hope that every visitor who comes to Ayers Rock Resort will join us in this event and share the pleasure we take in it.

A special location is chosen where guests are escorted shortly before sundown. A lone didgeridoo echoes across the desert as you enjoy champagne and canapes. While the sun sets in a blaze of reds and oranges, and well into the starlit night, you feast on array of the Northern Territory's culinary delights, including barramundi, kangaroo, emu, crocodile, bush salads, and classic Australian desserts.

Attention then turns to some of the world's best stargazing, with the assistance of our resident astronomer. As you wind down, coffee or tea are served. In winter, guests gather around a campfire to savour a special treat of hot mulled wine.
