Like, how many of how many ounce bottles can you carry-on? Because I'm travelling to Europe this summer and we're not checking in any of the luggage...

  1. the truth is not much. Since people were found trying to smuggle products/liquids that when mixed made a bomb they have gotten very strict. there is a list of how much you can carry and what sizes, either on an air line site or google for it. You might be better off buying when you reach your destination,  it might be a little more expensive, but you won't trigger any time consuming searches of your carry ons while they check each bottle.

  2. oh my gosh...i took some skin cleanser and it was like half an ounce too big and they threw it away!!! then i got acne when i got back!!! it sucks!!!

    ughh...

its because if its like too mcuh liquid, it will explode on the plane and get everywhere...yech

  3. The reason why there is a restriction on liquids is because there was a terrorist plot in 2006 in which liquid chemicals were going to be mixed to blow up several transatlantic flights - specifically targeting American airline companies, like American Airlines, US Airways, etc.

The new TSA policy states that only liquids in containers 3 fluid ounces or smaller in volume are allowed through security. These containers must fit in 1 quart-sized (sandwich sized) Ziploc bag, and only 1 bag is allowed per passenger. That way, the amount of liquids is severely limited, for security's sake.

I suggest buying travel-sized products for your journey - and buy at least 2 tubes of travel-sized toothpaste, 3 if you're going to be in Europe for more than a couple of weeks. As far as cosmetics go, invest in products that multi-task, such as Benefit Cosmetics' Benetint - it's a lip and cheek stain, so it works as blush and lip color in one small bottle. Here's the link: http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?...

Benefit also has "airplane approved" travel-sized products: http://sephora.com/browse/brand_hierarch...

It's pricey, but they're good quality products.

Once you get to your hotel in Europe, take those little toiletries that come in the bathroom of your hotel room and put them in your carry on bag (if your roommates need to use them, call down to the front desk and ask them to bring up some more of the products to your room). That way you won't have to worry about running out of shampoo and conditioner. And if you don't use them, you'll have some European body wash as a souvenir! :)

I hope this helps, and have a great trip.

  4. See what's they said (TSA)

As many 3oz containers you can fit in a 1 quart plasic ziptop bag. The 3-1-1 rule. "3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin.

One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.

All containers must be 3oz or less, even if there's less than 3oz in it (ie you can't bring 3oz of liquid in a 4oz container).

The rule is for a quart-sized bag, but I have seen people use slightly larger bags at the airport, but you may not want to risk it if you have very important items. Milk, juice and formula are exempt from this rule if you're traveling with a child.

  5. You are allowed a 3oz or smaller containers of liquid or gel.

Then you have to put those containers in a 1 quart size clear plastic zip lock bag. Each passenger is allowed one quart size plastic bag.  What I do is just take the 3 oz shampoo and conditioner in my carry on...then buy more in my destination if I need it. Because if you are not within the limits the TSA sets..they will confiscate it and throw it out. It's good that you are finding out prior to travel...it makes getting through security much faster if you are prepared.

I'm including the TSA website if you want more info of things that are prohibited from being carried on the plane.

  6. 3-1-1 rule from the (TSA)

as many 3 oz bottles as you can fit in one , 1 quart size clear plastic zip loc baggie. 1 baggie per person.

go to walmart and buy the travel sized bottles, get different top colors and fill 1 with shampoo, 1 with conditioner, 1 with bodywash. then if you use the 2 in 1 tooth paste that comes in the bottle like container put that in it should be 3 oz or less. you can only have 3 oz containers not like 5 oz containers with 3 oz of product.

you also must put your deoderent in the baggie if you use the gel, or spray on kind. a regular sized container is 3 oz or less usually so just check to make sure.

and there are exceptions. for example if you have say a liquid over the counter med that is more than 3 oz TSA says to declare that you have it and as long as it is not too much more than 3 oz and an appropriate item to bring with you they will allow it. also i believe that sun screen would be allowed even if it is more than 3 oz just make sure you declare you have it and put the biggeritems in another clear plastic baggie. also if you have any liquid prescription drugs you need to put them in yet another clear plastic baggie and declare that you have it. and be sure the prescription label is on the container or in it.

you will have to take these baggies out of your luggage and put them in a bin to go through security so make sure they are at the top and easy to get to.
