  1. In the years that I've played golf the Ranger, or as they are now referred to as the "Golfers Assistant", know two things.

    1. Free golf is on Monday

    2. A free cart is included.

Most Rangers ride around looking to see if you have glass bottles in your cart or if you have beer in your golf bag. I had one Ranger tell me that the group ahead of us were beginners and suggested that we skip two holes and move ahead of them. In all fairness though I have found a couple that will help you find your golf ball or will request that the group ahead let you play through but they are few and far between.

  2. to give me S**t about practicing with more than 1 ball.

  3. bother the players

  4. Some courses call them "Rangers", some call them "Ambassadors", while some call them "Marshalls";  they're all the same.

Their main purpose is to ensure all golfers are keeping pace with group in front of them, assist golfers with any cart problems, answer any course questions, to make sure all course rules are observed and obeyed (i.e. never leave cart within 30 feet of any green, carts to observe 90° rule when applicable, et.al.), and to ensure all play is running smoothly.

  5. They are supposed to keep play moving at a steady pace. So that people do not get backed up.

  6. bother golfers. dont these guys get on your nerves

  7. To try and keep the course moving at an acceptable pace of play. To help move the slower groups into position ,for the enjoyment of the other players on the course. Also to make sure golfers follow such things as cart rules, replace divots, rake traps, fix ball marks.
