Ninja comes from one of those chinese word that means to endure/strong minded person. but For the japanese the meaning shift as time shift. It quickly become something like shadow warriors. They are assassin/scout/spy/saboteur type of thing. (popular ninja anime Naruto is definitely an opposite of what a ninja should be). They usually have a lot of Ninpo to help them in their mission.

One of my favorite and the deadliest technique is the one where they can immitate the voice of whatever they heard and can take on the face of whoever the killed/captured. This technique is excellent for creating a huge confusion during a saboteur missions and spying missions. Its weakness being that when the opponent found out that you are a spy and you didn't really know that the opponent has uncover you secret. You do not get the memory of the victim so it is hard to blend in...
