  1. pretty much how your soceity actually makes your decisions for you rather than you making them yourself as what you may think.....all about our conscious

  2. It depends what level you'll be studied but the main aim of Sociology is to challenge our assumptions of the social world.

This is a quote which sums up Sociology for me.

"Unlike puppets we have the possibility of stopping in our movement looking up and perceiving the machinery by which we have been moved.  In this act lies the first steps towards freedom."

    Peter Berger (1967)

  3. Sociology is studying what makes a society, such as social norms, groups within the society, individuals, social classes within the society, cultural beliefs, race, political influences etc all of which impacts on how we act & behave, talk and interact with others, and even who we interact with.

You will also talk about social control, deviance, inequality, power, conflict etc, and the most famous classical and modern Sociologists (such as Auguste Comte, Emile Durkheim, Karl Marx ).

Expect a lot of heavy reading, class discussion,  and a few assignments which may include a bit of research.

  4. You will learn bits and pieces of good conversation statistics that will serve you well the next time you hit a bar or tavern while in school and for a few years after as you phase into to full adult life.  Word of caution:  shop for an instructor who does not the course seriously, i.e., a reasonable grade dispenser.  Remember an instructor can make the first grade challenging if inclined by personality disorder to do so.
