What exchange program did you use?

Can anyone tell me their exchange program to go to Japan and how much it costs?

Oh and how much Japanese do you need to know to go?

The three oldest and best organizations to check out are AFS, YFU and Rotary exchange. Rotary is the cheapest, but most competitive. The others offer scholarships, YFU has an especially strong tie to Japan. While there usually isn't a language requirement, if you get accepted, you should start some training immediately. Rosetta Stone is a good start.

Costs will run $8,000 or so a year, but again, scholarships are offered and Rotary is cheaper. You'll need to check with each organization to see what they can do for you.
