What excites you about winter?

Winter here is the longer season of the year... I like to go places by plane and car. Even in winter I go for long walks in my powered wheelchair of course not too cold... - 20 is the cut off point. There are winter festivals and events like the Yukon Quest dog sledding

Sitting in the hot tub with snow bunnies after a hard day of skiing the backcountry....aaah.

I love to hunt deer and bears here in Floyd County, Virginia. I try to kill at least 3 deer a year and I eat more deer than beef. I'm planning to get a DPMS Panther LR-308 soon and will use it this year instead of the bolt action Rugers I've been using the last few years. It will be fun to use a good quality "assault rifle" to hunt. I'll still be as careful with my shots as I would with a bolt action because I respect the animals I hunt and want my kills to be as humane as possible.

Winter is also a good time to work on my land because I don't have to fight the snakes, bees, and jungle like vegetation, but hunting is what makes winter my favorite time of year.

Apart from winter sports I generally love winter, and infinitely prefer it to summer. Summer is hot and sticky, and I prefer to be freezing cold than boiling hot.

The chance of snow is always exciting, the fact that you get up early in the morn and see frost on the grass, and then you step outside to greet the cool morning air, which is really refreshing.

I like seeing the sky at night in winter, its nice and chilly, and the stars always seem to be out.

And of course Christmas is always nice, especially with decorations and snow and stuff. All the childish pleasures :D
