  1. I don't remember if it were you who asked but getting more 'pop' doesn't come from strength. It comes from striking the ball in the center of percussion (the sweet spot).

The only way to get a better "pop" on your shot is to make better contact. Depending on the racquet the sweet spot is typically in the upper 1/3 of the string bed and along the central axis, longitudinally.

I would venture looking into plyometrics. Efficiency in tennis comes from short bursts of explosive energy which plyometrics cater to very well. A combination of plyometrics and aerobic exercise is considered a very strong combination.

  2. Hey it's not so much of a pop, but more of a brush stroke.  The other guy is right you have to hit it in the racquet's sweet spot, but it's usually in the middle.  It takes a while before you actually get it down.  Oh of course try using a heavy racquet so that you get the motions down.  Then when you use a lighter racquet it feels like you don't have to brush to spin and put speed on the ball.

  3. The thing that generates power is racket head speed.

So I would strengthen your hitting arm, work on your core and your legs, especially the thighs. And when you are hitting, make sure you make good contact and just whip through the ball.

Just remember racket speed is everything.

  4. Have you read The Inner Game of Tennis by Tim Gallwey? It will help you.
