Question:

What exercises should I do for horseback riding?

I am preparing to compete but can't get on a horse everday. I have a complete gym at my disposal complete with a rowing machine and a thigh master I have no idea how to use.

Suggestions for core and lower body work-outs are greatly appreciated.

Until then I'll practice my balance board. See you at the rodeo!

  1. Do exercises that strengthen your lumbar muscles and lower body.

  2. Its going to be difficult to compete at much of any level without riding the horse. Nothing compares to real horses if you aim to do something your entry fees other than donate them.

Yoga and Pilate's are friends to all housebound horse lovers, as is a stretching ball and stair stepper.

An injured friend improved his ride by visualizing 100 times a day what he needed to do, and was the better for it. Core might sound good but your arms and neck and shoulder need balance and tone too. You just can't compete with people that ride 12-16 hours a day. All that is muscle memory and training a horse to be a companion.. a difficult task on a thigh master!

  3. well being a horse rider myself u can do streches but i cant be botherd but if u are make sure u stretch ur legs nd inner thighs and also warming up (joging ect) would help too.

    i hope this info helps
