Question:

What exercises will help me with iceskating?

i am sighning up for a ymca class but idk what one to pick i want one that will help me with iceskating im up to my bell jump and lutz if that helps i want to learn to be more flexable and strengthn the muscels that need to be strengthen in order to progress. should i do more aerobic exercises or what??

  1. The lunge would be the primary strength building exercise for your application. 3 sets of 8-12 reps every other day - 6 days a week. Be very controlled in your movements. Take a one minute rest between sets. Learn stretching exercises (for increased flexibility and warm-up) and do them before doing the lunges. Aerobic exercises would be great and you can do them every day (6 days). I would concentrate on low impact ones such as elliptical trainers, stair steppers (or stair steps), swimming is very good for flexibility and aerobics. Abdominal exercises are always useful, you can do them every day also.
