  1. Perhaps there was a previous incarnation of our Universe that collapsed into singularity from which the Big Bang occured. In that case, 1 second before the Big Bang would've looked much like 1 second after Big Band, only in reverse.

Or, there was no time at all, because there was no Universe and no events that time could be measured from.

In our minds, the timescale can be stretched forever in either direction, if we treat is as simply numbers on a ruler. But in practice, much like the temperature scale or the speed scale, it stops somewhere and doesn't go any further. Time might have begun with the Big Bang, and (gasp shock horror) time might end at some point. You never know, you never never know.

  2. people who gave you answers like "no one second before the bigbang" is tied up to that belief and would not try to understand what you are asking. It doesn't say that nothing can exist before time... time existed when this object (whatever it was) started to move (or went BANG).

    rephrase your question like this:

    1) What existed before the big bang?

"1 second" attracted loads of pinheads that gave you similar answers.

    or

What is the thing that went BANG (big bang theory)?

now this one is even better because of the loss of time frame

If there is a big bang.... then there is something that went BANG...

    now, back to your question

what was there...... absolute stillness of whatever it is that is about to go BIG BANG..

  3. ME

  4. a heard of purple possums

    and a duck

just kidding- probably the same thing as there is now

galaxies, and like in the end of a big star maybe a black hole or the other thing, where it's so big that it even sucks other smaller black holes into it until it's the only thing left, then it has too much in it to handle- so it explodes throwing everything out, all the matter from the exact one point at the same time.

  5. yeah i doubt there was a big bang. does air just explode for no reason? thats really a stupid thoery. i think we live in a universe that has happened before. Like forereal like the universe expaneded like a rubber band, collasped and started agian. This might be the 3805623743623o7i531o9 time we've lived this life who knows

  6. Second is not really a absolute measurement of time, its a human invention (like measuring with a foot). So seconds wouldnt of existed before man. Time as we know it, wouldnt of existed before the big bang either.

Have you heard the term "Space/time"? Time is just another dimension, like space, so if it did exist before that event supposedly happened, then it would of been extremely different, slow or fast.

You sound like your saying big bang happened. Its a theory, which may or may not have.

  7. Something has to come from something else. The universe had to come from something with energy beyond what is ever fathomable.

Isaiah 40:26. There is your answer.

  8. God existed one second before he began creating the universe.

  9. Before the big bang time didn't exist so one second before the big bang didn't exist. However according to this theory everthing that exists in the universe was packed into one atom.

  10. Good question.  The answer is: "We don't know."

We know that our understanding of physics fails during the first second after the Big Bang.

This does not mean, however, that we will never know.  A unified theory of quantum gravity may yield better understanding of the first second.

There are some indications that what we think of as the first second of the Big Bang may, in actuality, extend infinitely far back into the past.  In other words, there was always (back into the eternal past) an inflating, ultradense universe and that during what we think of as the first second, "our" Universe, a tiny piece of the whole, dropped out of the inflationary state and created a local bubble that we perceive as "our" Big Bang.  If that were the case, the "Bang" itself would have happened infinitely far back in time, and there would be infinitely many other Big Bangs, all unreachable to us.  If that were true, your question would not make sense, because the Big Bang would extend into the eternal past.  This speculation is called "ongoing eternal inflation".

Another, completely different speculation suggests that a "Big Bang" is an extremely rare quantum event that occurs in an empty, inflating space.  No matter or energy is needed to create a Big Bang, since the total energy of the Universe appears to be zero, the positive energy cancelled by negative gravitational potential energy.  There is no need to supply a "Big Bang" with energy and matter through the collapse of a prior Universe. The interesting thing is that an empty, inflating space may be the endpoint of our own Universe.  If this speculation is true, then what existed before the Big Bang would be a highly evolved Universe like our own.

  11. super heated matter, dark matter (higher proportions than today) and probably dark energy. im pretty sure there would have been anti-matter and matter...whereby there was a higher proportion of matter which is what we have today

  12. Dr Who

  13. There was no "one second" before the Big Bang there was only a Single Point of No time or Space known as "The Singularity".

  14. Right now, as I type this, and as you read it, pairs of particles are coming into existence literally "out of nothing". They borrow energy from the vacuum, come into being, travel a short distance and then collide, destroying each other and repaying the energy debt to the vacuum. This is real, proven science fact. Google "Casimir plates" for a description of the experiment that proved this happens.

If this can happen, without any need for a 'prime cause' or 'creator' or 'something to happen first', then it's a lot easier to imagine an entire Universe, coming into being literally out of nothing, with nothing before it, nothing to cause it to happen, nothing at all.

Before the Big Bang, there was no time, no space, no matter. So asking what was before the BB is like asking what's north of the North Pole, or what does purple think. The question is meaningless.

  15. A fizzing noise

  16. Since time, along with space, was created in the moments after the big bang - there was no "1 second" before it.

  17. The last second of the big collapse.

  18. God. Hehas allways been there and allways will. What u see around u wasnt a just happening. there is a creative mind behind it all.

  19. Dont Know.. I Mean Was There Really A Big Bang?? Was The Bible True?? I Don't Know... I Think The Bibles Wrong.. But Was They Really A Big Bang?? I WANNA KNOW!! I'll Make That One Of My Questions!!

  20. Before the big bang, there was no time - time came into existence with the big bang so there was no 1 second before for whatever to exist in.

Edit, I don't know how big bang created time - but just as it isn't turtles all the way down - it's not time all the way back.

  21. a man with a giant detenator who had just counted down from 5 4 3 2 1...

and how can an explosion create time???

  22. Aha the reason I don't believe in the big bang.  Nothing can explode nothing with nothing!

Even if something was there before the big bang, it goes back to the same question - what was there before it.
